No garden soil or forest floor holds its place
As it rests inside a tree trunk’s quiet space
It has no wings to fly across the sky so blue
Yet it appears to world totally fresh and new.
No living roots or green leaves one will find
Far from the crowd, it hides away from mind
On the fallen wood and rotting trees it grows
But once it opens, a new world explodes.
The odour or aroma of flesh long turned to clay
For many other folks who despise the way
Yet flies become my welcome guests I greet
Where the nature’s foul and choices meet.
This splendid giant seems repulsive to eyes
Yet deep within its mould, a secret beauty lies
For decay is just where nature’s craft will start
To shield the seed and life with primordial art.
Though its repulsive scent might turn you away
This giant bloom protects the seed within decay
Judge not its worth by smell or doubt its living role,
For awe inspiring wonders shape its unique soul.
