My Humming Word

The sky is full of
Millions of twinkling stars
Bright and graceful
But the star
Which fascinated me
Whom I loved and cared
Blinked only for moments
And went into hiding
In the galaxy forever.

Ever since ages
When the festival of lights
Is celebrated world over
Under the rows of lamps,
Under the flames of candles,
Magnificent fireworks and crackers,
Shining and glittering neon lights,
I too join folks and festivities
With a smiling face…

But my sullen eyes
Through this glare and glitter
Still keep groping in the dark
In a never ending quest
With, however, the faintest hope
For dearer than life, the lost star
And a corner of my heart
Remains gloomy, sad and sunk ever.
