My Humming Word

  1. Poem

The Premature Cephalopod

A creature in the sapphire deeps awake
Floating silken like in a colourful cape
She spreads her cape of iridescent grace
Like a shifting phantom in pathless space.

No caverned stone or rocky den she craves
A perpetual wanderer of the salt water waves
Her pulsing webs divide the ancient tide
Where violet shifts and primal terrors hide.

Then by her side, a speck upon the tide
The miniature male that seeks no pride
He yields his life giving away special arm
To make new babies, to let the future bloom.

Her movements reveal the sheer elegance
Less like swimming more like a classical dance
The sea’s true princess, robed in living lace
She rules the quiet & vast, untamed embrace.
