The Glass Frog Speaks

I do not wear any armour on my chest
Yet Nature opted to write a secret on it
Look closely at it, and make no mistake
The fragile glassiness, you will observe.

My body allows the light pass through
Within it, my organs are on a faint show
My heart may beat in front of your eyes
Yet my transparency credibly protects me.

I cling underneath the emerald leaves
Where the misty rainforest breathes
My see-through body is a clear disguise
A glass-like wonder beneath the skies.

Upon a leaf up the stream, my eggs I leave
On the waters below. I Keep a watchful eye
When the tiny lives inside are finally ready
To ensure they safely grow, I stay nearby.

My fragile body shows an elegant grace
So judge me not by this transparent space
The greatest shield of safety lies unseen
In this glass-like wonder wrapped in green.

Learn from my glass form, O human friend
To break the masks on which you depend
For truth requires no heavy shield or might
The clearest heart shines strongest in the light.
