A translucent vagabond of the stagnant pond
Mapping the shadows of the depths beyond
Body has no rigid contour, chassis or shell
With a plasmic universe inside a single cell.
A shape-shifting titan of gel and liquid stream
An ever-shifting silhouette, a living-flowing dream
It extends pseudopodia, pushing outward wide
Where the quiet, drifted water-currents glide.
Engulfing unwary prey in a steady embrace
Then splits in simple fission to double its space
It locks its fragile quarry in a vacuole’s ring
A timeless, immortal and shape-shifting king.
