Though wise men urge the heart to heal and forget the past
The deep, painful wounds of love leave memories built to last
She too knew well the storm, tears, and nights may not end
Yet she walked beyond all these ruins, seeking life to mend.
But does she know what stayed behind when she moved on
The unspoken weight he carried when the warmth was gone?
Did she e’er sense the guilt and fire that burns beneath his pain
Or feel, within his shadowed nights, the old remorse again?
It was a failed relationship alright, by worldly measures made
Yet how can something once profound so easily be betrayed?
Two innocent hearts trapped in a tempest, battered by the rain
One may have found a distant shore, while one still walks in pain.
For memories are stubborn ghosts; they neither sleep nor die
They watch within the quiet hours and constantly whisper why
Saying “move on” is an easy word for those who never knew
How much of one’s own delicate soul is lost as love withdrew
Perhaps she found her quiet peace; perhaps she learned to smile
Because the years have taught her heart to walk the healing mile.
But somewhere in another heart, beneath the tears and fears
Their unfinished affection still lives, unchanged by-passing years
So let no one command, “Forget,” as if forgetting was a choice
For broken hearts although suffer, yet forever keep their voice
One might continue to live a life, while other still bears the cost
For what the world calls ‘moving on’ is in reality a lifetime lost.
