My Humming Word

The Pearlescent Spiral

What a curled pyramid made of bone
It survives within the salt waters’ reef alone
A silent shadow from the ocean’s dawn
This living fossil of million years drifts on

As Indo-Pacific reef and shadowy depth divide
Nautilus navigates the vertical dark and tide
Its unique siphuncle allows to sink or rise
While it is fully secure within its vault inside.

Pearlescent chambered fortress firmly sealed
And every growing spiral is quietly revealed
By jet-propelled thrust it roams inside the blue
With its myriad tentacles in search of cue.

Rare hatchlings born in secrets of the deep
A vintage lineage the ancient waters keep.
