My Humming Word

  1. Poem

Silver Lyre of Gondwana

An age-old songsmith from Gondwana’s dawn
Through moist Australian forests stepping on
Midst luxuriant ferns and moss, rich clay floors
A Lyrebird weaves the melody that life restores.

A silver lyre of feathers proudly crowns its grace
With lacy plumes and fine antennae in space
The finest artist of the rich fauna in the forest
A hundred wild voices live within its throat.

Indeed, a true acoustic genius mimicking the wild
With its throat and antics, the forest is beguiled
Deep in the damp ferns where the shadows hide
Its awesome dance is a marvel, and realm’s pride.

In the winter season alone, a single egg is laid
Another timeless masterpiece in shadows made.
