My Humming Word

The saddest thing in life was
To lose your love and friendship
But as the time flew
The love remained abstract
I saw the friendship fading
And found a friend inside –
My own solitude.

True, I love to be alone
For I never found a companion
That was so companionable
As my own solitude.
When life took away dreams
Turned them upside down
For solace there was none
But my own solitude.

As if part of the destiny
It never leaves me alone
A true friend, companion and love
But sometimes it wears a different mask
To play with me a cruel game
Then it hangs around too long
Even changes its name
And turns into loneliness
To inflict an unbearable pain.
