In the recent past
In a visit to the home town
Nostalgic about the reminiscent past
I unearthed a hidden treasure
The Scrapbook of an innocent boy
An idealist & emotional teenage dreamer
The book a sole witness, and
An old repository of his adolescent past.
Some forgotten memories
And some unmaterialized dreams
Reminders of the yesteryears’ events
As if it all happened on the day last.
The fresh and bright red rose
A reminder of an unfinished tale
Once so eager to present you
But never found an occasion or courage
Those not so lucky dried petals
Color faded yet some lustre remained
Even after so many decades
The saga and testimony of a love
So sublime, ethereal and pure.
The faded white envelope
You know inscribed what
An alibi it was real not fake
Even a few so nicely done kymographs
Of the tender tiny heart,
That poor innocent creature
Both of us had to share blame
To have it in equal halves.
A few quotes and unquote
Narratives of spoken and unspoken
Of those blissful and sad moments
Of the ever blooming love
In camaraderie and growing friendship
A romance destined never to end
During this life and afterward.
And how can one forget
Lyrics of that serene sweet song
Those clustered white flowers
Of the unforgettable Rajnigandha
With its everlasting fragrance
White on black remained at best
On the sheet in the last.
