My Humming Word

Sea’s Silent Dragon

In southern waters, pretty cold and clear
Near the Australian shores, it may appear
Open sea’s proficient yet a silent dancer
It gives illusion of afloat seaweed mariner.

Among the seaweed and rockweed green
A tiny dragon population could be seen
With the golden exterior and purple lines
Leafy sea-dragon hides inside ocean’s vines.

It has no scales or claws to guard its ways
But leaf-like fins that the fish softly sways
These fins are like masks for eyes that peer
To make the potential predators disappear.

Creature has no teeth, just a slender snout
To suck and swallow its tiny prey right out
We can call it a leafy ghost of the rolling tide
Has only option to mimic drifting kelp to hide.
