My Humming Word

Deep within the ocean where reigns endless dark
The scaly-foot snail braves thermal currents’ spark
Where sulphur plumes and caustic vapours rise
These iron-armoured crawlers survive and thrive.

No common fragile shell protects its crawling form
Instead, a metallic fort is built against the storm
Born out of iron sulphides, forged in deep-sea fires
Where the ocean’s crushing weight in vain expires.

Like a valiant knight with iron scales on its feet
It crawls down deep where fire and waters meet
No sunlit currents can reach its shadowed shell
It feeds on vent-born microbes where they dwell.

He is a knight of steel beneath the infinite ocean
And a living exemplar of brine alchemy in motion.
