My Humming Word

A lifetime taught me—

Love surprises like a thunderbolt
At times arrives – effortless, unseen
But it blooms in silence
Turning a deep, stable tie-in over time
Without asking how or when.

When it comes to expression
So often words falter—
Tongue trembles, heart overflows
For love, when deepest and loveliest
Refuses the prison of speech
Turns to an agony of unspoken
And the time…
They say, time heals all
But love does not abide by time.

It relentlessly revels
In empty chairs and settings
In nature’s lap and passing songs
In dusk that remembers one’s name.
For the hardest truth I’ve ever known…
Love once lived, never truly leaves
It returns time and again
As everlasting longing, as loss, as pain
And in extreme cases…
Under misjudgement as aversion.

But love stays as obstinate
Unhealing, tender ache with time
A silent and discreet companion
For the person’s rest of life.
