My Humming Word

Spent a lifetime chasing her—
A soulmate, a captivating shadow
Walking a step ahead always
Through corridors of youth
And afterwards, too.

Years gathered decisively
Like dust on forgotten journals
Now she lingers in the threshold
As though our shared time & language
Has slipped in perpetuity from memory.

So, I’m tied in knots
With a recurring thought –
This body a soul polishes with pride
This ego people guard like treasure —
All so fragile, all so fleeting.

If memory loosens its threads
And relationships blur into mist
What remains of all our pursuits?

A learning lesson, at last—
Love meant to give wings
And not to hold the leash
Man errs when he builds cages
In the name of eternal bonds…

Perhaps the true art of living
Is to walk gently besides
To care for one without claiming
And when the time demands
To open the palm
Of one’s own volition
Gifting the wind its traveller.
