My Humming Word

Werewolves Strike Again

In the national capital, they have struck again
Each time a woman’s modesty is outraged
Outcries of shame and shock too are raised
We wring our hands in anger and frustration
But not without mortal fear and apprehension
For our own daughters, sisters and wives
Daily go out to the same vulnerable places
Stalked by the depraved and debauched men
Set out loose with a dead or no conscience
To violate, maim and torture women.

Parliamentarians demand a capital punishment
And that it be declared a non-bailable offence
Social activists shouting slogans on the roads
Some suggest bobbitization or chemical castration
As usual smart media alive and hyperactive
Out to encash and derive maximum footage
Only commoner feels disillusioned and cheated
Notwithstanding, the law will take its own course
But the victim even if survives the battle of life
Will have to live with an injured spirit rest of life.

No one is making any discovery or invention
On heinous crime, if demanding such action as
A harsh punishment to culprits
Sensitization of law enforcing agencies
Setting of fast track courts
Smart patrolling by police
Use of GPS in public transport and places
So on so forth such other countless measures…

This hue and cry will subside in a few days
Leaving the victim and family to fend for self
Werewolves in society may lie low a few days
Before going on hunt again for easy prey
They did it now, they had done it in the past
Memories of many people are rather short
So while police and law take their recourse
People must endeavor to defend themselves.
