My Humming Word

  1. Poem

Soldier and Lineman

Soldiers guard the country each wielding a gun,
To safeguard our lives, all pleasures they shun.
That we sleep a sound sleep, they remain awake,
For every inch of the land, put their lives at stake.

If we have a peep into their lives, ours seem fake,
Every moment in their lives is a make or break.
All military operations rest on them for the take,
It’s the soldiers who most cannon fodder make.

We bow our heads in reverence over soldiers’ martyrdom,
The saga of their heroism will eternally into our blood run.

Likewise ones who light our homes are linemen,
Full of occupational hazard is their profession.
To be a lineman is tough, and working is not fun,
Their life brushes with death everyday with abandon.

To infuse life into us they snuff out their own one,
Their go at both ends meet aborts before it’s begun.
During the pandemic, they short circuited own lives, met electrocution.
But to sustain our lives, kept running RTC the machines of oxygen.

Against COVID, they fought at the frontline like none,
Many lost against death yet war against COVID they won.
We pay homage to those who laid their lives and gone,
And tribute to those around us for job well done.

We bow our heads in reverence to linemen’s martyrdom,
The saga of their heroism will eternally into our blood run.
