My Humming Word

The Wandering Albatross

Across the wild and roaring Southern Seas
Passing by the treacherous drake passages
The sovereign Albatross glides through light
To circle half the globe in its endless flight

With a mighty spread of eleven feet or more
The titan sweeps across the sea without a shore
The pristine white wings tipped in shades of grey
Its narrow pinions command the stormy spray.

When special tendons lock its wings in grace
The titan glides for miles across the open space
No muscle strains, no weary heartbeats rise
While dynamic soaring lifts bird to the skies.

He sips the saline water and filters out the salt
What a majestic wanderer that knows no halt
Through rising waves he searches far and wide
To harvest silver that crest the ocean tide.

To windswept crags and faithful hearts, they fly
With the lifelong bond beneath the polar sky
One single chick they raise with attentive care
A bond of love proud mankind can only share.
