My Humming Word

Every time the saint would pick him
He was stung hard by the scorpion
Despite an insurmountable pain
The former would make a fresh bid
For rescuing the latter once again
In the river from getting drowned.

Having watched this for some time
A curious onlooker asked the saint
Why he was trying so hard to save
Such an evil and ungrateful vermin
Giving only stings and seething pain.

With sustained composure, saint replied
Look, what the scorpion is doing
It is actually his nature and karma
If I am trying to save him unfazed
Because it is my nature and dharma.

Irrespective whether a man or a creature
Life is life and must be equally saved
Just as we want happiness and fear pain
Just as we want to live and afraid to die
So does a mute creature to sustain a life.

While doing the right action for a cause
Sometimes you incur some pain and loss
Which is a sort of a collateral damage
To be happily borne for a right cause.
