Sometimes I sit back in retrospection
And brood over the reminiscent past
A wild thought upsurges time and again
Why didn’t I say it in rendezvous last?
You were walking away from life
Perhaps never to meet ever again
Nervous and fast losing my composure
I maintained outwardly calm and serene.
You were cheerful with gleaming eyes
With golden dreams of a magnificent life
Sure the moment was not so opportune
Love is to perpetuate bliss and not pain.
In the aftermath of a complex relationship
Shared moments, letters and photographs
Remained with us as valued possessions
More I try to forget more they overwhelm.
Body and mind become weak and senile
But our memories never ever age or die
Eternal love and care are our comfort
That remains the best link of our past.
