Some of my long time friends
Feel elevated in calling self
As avid “recycled teenagers”
Arguing age is just a number…
They feel cheery to announce
Let’s eat, drink and make merry
Don’t worry about getting old,
Instead worry only thinking old.
But I wonder if that be true
Then contrasting to teenagers
Why do they so often look for
A dentist, physician or specialist
To fix their cavity or toothache
Bowel upset with acidity or scour
Or even far more onerous disorder
Such as diabetes or blood pressure!
I can’t but stop my chuckle
As I ponder their predicament
Can’t people stop worrying
About the anxieties of the age
Instead of being thus boastful
Over adventure and excitement
Why not cultivate cerebral hobbies
Commensurate with their age.
