People make excuses
with their spouses,
relatives and friends,
superiors and subordinates
on false pretexts and notions
to skip a responsibility,
avoid a situation
or to cover up for
their delays and inefficiencies.
While it is so simple
to be straight and truthful
rather than manipulative
in accepting own fault
for mundane delays and lapses
which in fact generates
more goodwill and faith
among the onlookers
about the person
and his capabilities.
