My Humming Word

In a whirlwind detour
As I traverse through places
Somewhere deep in Shimla hills
On the serpentine roads
Among the alpine forests
Of the magnificent Deodars
And the apple and cherry groves
With my mortal body there
But mind and heart elsewhere
I find I can’t escape
Your poignant memories and thoughts.

As I venture alone
In ravines of steep hills
On the banks of mighty Satluj
Walking among pebbles and stones
The river is turbulent as ever
And so is my mind
Barking deers grazing on silky grass
A pair of pretty Himalayan Monals
Just fly over the river past
But nothing attracts, nothing distracts
I find I can’t escape
Your poignant memories and thoughts.

In the lap of divine nature
At the foothills of Himalayas
Sitting over the cliffs and rocks
I surmise no one is alone
Earth has an umbrella of sky
Moon has stars as companions
River is in company of its banks
Only my lonely heart remains sunk
As ever in the teenage past
I find I can’t escape
Your poignant memories and thoughts.

It’s a life span now
Of compulsive run away from life
Whatever I do, wherever I go
You quietly sneak in
Wave at teasingly and run away
Leaving my mind in turmoil
The heart with burning desire
And a distraught me as ever,
I find I can’t escape
Your everlasting memories
And evocative thoughts.
