Verily desire-less
With no more cravings left
For the temporal possessions
As well sensual enjoyments
Now I seldom count
My left-over days in life
If the span is less or more.
During this arduous journey
Realization came rather early
However meticulously I plan or target
With whatever precision I conduct
Destiny always had it’s design
One step ahead it’s own plan
Sometimes for the better
And at times for the worse…
So I put a cease to brooding
And contemplating on my future!
I have seldom been greedy
About my bowl of cherries*
A firm believer in letting go
Rather than saving the finest
For own personal convenience
And consumption during this life…
Mother was the best ever teacher
For me to emulate in this endeavor.
Nearly close to equanimity
By the body, mind and soul
Now of the infamous five**
Ubiquitous affliction or attribute
That so often dictate and impair…
I am more or less free from
Except for a bit of attachment
Still left for chosen few to pamper.
Towards the life’s twilight
With no more cravings left
For any bowl of cherries
My soul is neither in a hurry
Nor it nurtures any hankering:
Disaffection, anger or hate anymore…
On the contrary
With a stable body and mind
My soul is in absolute bliss, with
Out-and-out harmony and peace.
* Refers to worldly pleasures and distractions; The Hindu scriptures call it ‘Maya’. **Refers to five vices, namely Lust, Anger, Ego, Greed and (excessive) Attachment responsible for the immoral conduct or fall of a person, according to the Sanatana (Hindu) way of life.
