The Light of wisdom

The darkest new moon night
Is yet again on the anvil
An occasion to commemorate
The symbolic triumph of
Knowledge over ignorance
Good over evil and hope over despair.

While cleaning and decorating
Our homes and surroundings
Lighting candles and lamps
Let us not forget on this occasion
That more than the external doing
We need to do our inner cleansing

The inner cleansing of the soul
That conquers vices of all sorts
Lust, anger, ego and arrogance…
To usher in the light of wisdom
The wealth of true knowledge
The Good, real and pure as gold.
