My Humming Word

Losing A Great Friendship

In this endless yet ephemeral
And ever-changing weather cycle
I so often wonder in solitude
More so in frosty wintry nights
So also the gloomy foggy days…
Why the friend and friendship lost
Once so endearing and sublime
Close to heart and mind
Gives such an acute feeling
Of love, longing, absence and loss!

In all these fateful years
Of a long and hectic journey
Towards the twilight of life now
One abstract and recurring thought
That swoons and surges
With the vagaries of climate
Time and again…
Falling in love with a friend
Was the most beautiful and blissful
Thing to happen during life
And then losing the loved one
The most painful loss of life.
