The complexity and colours
Of the Indian culture are so unique
The variety and ways the people look
The language, cuisine and dress code
The fairs, festivals, music and dance
Every thing is so different and changes
Every hundred to hundred-fifty miles.
And you have a feel of all this in one place
On a visit to Allahabad during the Mahakumbh
An incredible congregation of diverse people
So rare a cultural festivity on the entire planet
Of such a relished and rich tradition and culture
Carried over ever since thousands of years.
The relevance is not mere religious and social
The Mahakumbh also carries a spiritual message
A sacred place and means of transcendence
From one cycle of life to another
At no other place on the entire globe
The desire for liberation is so intense –
Liberation of soul to nirvana or moksha
From the vicious cycle of life and death.
The land remains the spiritual capital
For no other cultures have ever so cultivated
The inner science with such indepth and insight.
(Mahakumbh, the mother of all religious congregations, reminds me of my posting at Allahabad way back in late eighties. Then I had an opportunity to see this incredible sight which occurs every twelve years.)
